We began our engagement during one of our wine tasting vacations in February 2022.
Wedding plans slowly began to form with Santa Ynez being selected as the destination. And then...
In the wee morning hours of February 22, 2023, we awoke to a loud crash. Our front walkway was now a pine-filled forest. Escaping out the garage, we discovered a giant tree had fallen on our house!
Wedding plans took a back seat as we focused on repairing the house. And then, just when everything was back to normal, we woke up on the rainy morning of February 5th, 2023 to the front part of our yard sliding into the street below. Our front walkway was destroyed but the slide missed our house foundation (by about a foot and a half)! And so we put the wedding on hold once more and tossed all our money into the bottomless pit that is known as homeownership.
Not wanting to wait any longer (and terrified of which natural disaster would strike next to derail our plans) we tied the knot on June 12th, 2024. In a private ceremony on the beach near our house, attended only by Lucas, Iryna, and Annie Wesley (who lived in the area), we said our "I Do's." Plans for a wedding celebration for everyone to attend had to wait... we had a wall to build.
After 12 months we finally had a retaining wall surrounding our house (but alas, no moat or crocodiles). The house was safe and prepared for all the rain storms to come. It was finally time to celebrate our wedding with friends and family - as closely to how we initially envisioned the big event.
Join us in Santa Ynez, at one of our favorite wineries to celebrate our wedding and our 2-year anniversary. Wesley's will meet Pontius's and friends will meet more friends. We will eat and drink and share stories of close encounters with mother nature.
